The fabric tells me of its past, I tell it (them) of our present

I have used the fabric to collage a map and have begun to leave my impressions and stories in embroidery, imagining that it will eventually become a map of a garden. I would like to use plants as the primary language, a metaphor for the social and cultural interactions of individuals in the environment of living in Footscray. For now, the work is not a complete piece. It is just the beginning, a community garden where we get rid of all labels and reconstruct from our respective memories and lived experiences.
